Hikin' With The Folks: Up The Romero Canyon Trail
Catalina State Park, Oro Valley, AZ, March, 2009
My parents came to visit us in Tucson before it got too hot, and I had to pick a good trail to introduce them to the different beast of Arizona hiking. It wasn't a hard decision, though, since they were staying in the suburban village of Oro Valley just north of Tucson. Just a couple of miles from their resort is the Catalina State Park, and I'd heard about the Romero Pools. So, we headed up the trail, which ended up being rather rocky and steep, but ended well with a beautiful stream and pools, and the proud sensation for my parents of having accomplished their first Arizona hiking experience.
