The Incredible And Complex Country of Italy
December 2011 - January 2012

Italy blew our minds. Following our Christmastime visit to Germany, we flew to Venice and then spent the next three weeks checking out a few major destinations we'd been itching to see--Florence, Pisa, and Rome, as well as the surprisingly interesting cities of Lucca and Perugia. We also spent several days in the Cinque Terre region, probably my favorite area in all of Italy. We visited museums, wandered through ancient streets, explored Roman ruins, and ate enough Italian food for a lifetime, and we still were sad to leave. Believe me, there is still plenty to explore in Italy, enough for several more visits.
