I've driven past the gold mines in Idaho Springs along I-70 many times, since it is on the way to the ski resorts. There was always a tower, obviously old, that I'd notice, and eventually I came to realize that it was a gold mine, apparently abandoned. Yet I never stopped to see it. Well, that changed this trip.
