First we came upon the Porta Nigra, a relic of the Roman era. It was heavily dominated by a tourist office and throngs of tourists, so we kept moving. We came upon a shopping street, teeming with people. It was a shock, really, coming from the quiet side street to Tourist Central. But for all the people, the architecture was beautiful, and there was a distinct energy in the city.
