Reluctantly, we headed back. The next morning we were ready for another country. We were up early, heading off across the border to Slovenia, a mere kilometer from the Abbazia. We spent that day circling the wine country there, driving along little ridges past vineyard after vineyard, stopping here and there at family wineries, tasting and buying wines.
