Our destination outside of Ottawa was to visit Algonquin Park, which is roughly the size of Yellowstone, but only has two road passing through, one in the far north and the other in the far south. The whole interior is intact and can only be accessed by hiking into it. There are bear, moose, elk, and a plethora of other wildlife species, and I'd definitely like to head back for a trip into the interior.
